    jin chīzoñ sapnā dekhā

    vo sab chīzeñ pā.īñ haiñ

    jag vāloñ ne mehnat hai

    saarī chiiz jaTā.īñ haiñ

ab jab sab kuchh paas hai mere

    koī bhī romance nahīñ

ishq ke koī maze nahīñ haiñ

    Tiis nahīñ hai phāñs nahīñ

    sapnoñ dhartī upjā.ū

    sapnoñ se sapne ugte haiñ

    sapne kis māhaul meñ jaane

    aate sote jāgte haiñ

    ek savāl jo be-ma.anī hai

kyā paayā hai kyā khoyā hai

    ġhurbat ki amīrī ho

    paimāna koī puḳhta hai

    aḳhtar-ul-īmān ne bhaa.ī

    baḌe pate baat kahī hai

    ''kaun sitāre chhū saktā hai

raah meñ saañs ukhaḌ jaatī hai''

    jin chizon ka sapna dekha

    wo sab chizen pain hain

jag walon ne mehnat ki hai

    sari chiz jaTain hain

ab jab sab kuchh pas hai mere

    koi bhi romance nahin

ishq ke koi maze nahin hain

    Tis nahin hai phans nahin

    sapnon ki dharti upjau

    sapnon se sapne ugte hain

    sapne kis mahaul mein jaane

    aate sote jagte hain

    ek sawal jo be-mani hai

kya paya hai kya khoya hai

ghurbat ya ki amiri ka ho

    paimana koi puKHta hai

    aKHtar-ul-iman ne bhai

baDe pate ki baat kahi hai

    kaun sitare chhu sakta hai

rah mein sans ukhaD jati hai
