begānagī kī lahr meñ
mādūm hotī raushnī ke darmiyāñ
ziist ke paañv tale aa.e hue
log haiñ yā chyūñTiyāñ
tan badan kī rehl par
mohmal kitābeñ zard chehroñ kī khulīñ
manzaroñ kī khojtī bīnā.iyāñ māzūr haiñ
yaad rakhne kī tamannā
bhūlne kī aarzū
hāfize kī band muTThī meñ Thahartā kuchh nahīñ
har qadam ḳhvāb o ḳhayāl vasl kī lazzat liye
zaat ke niile samundar meñ kahīñ
in jazīroñ kī havā meñ saañs lete jo muqaddar meñ nahīñ
DhūñDte haiñ kashtiyoñ kā rāsta
har sub.h ke aḳhbār meñ
ḳhud-kalāmī kī saḌak par duur tak
(laḌkhaḌāte zard pattoñ kī tarah)
kholte haiñ kashmakash kī gaThriyāñ
khultī nahīñ
bhīgte haiñ tez bārish meñ nadāmat kī magar
ruuh kī ālūdgī dhultī nahīñ
jhuTpuTe ke shahr mein
beganagi ki lahr mein
madum hoti raushni ke darmiyan
zist ke panw tale aae hue
log hain ya chyunTiyan
tan badan ki rehl par
mohmal kitaben zard chehron ki khulin
manzaron ki khojti binaiyan mazur hain
yaad rakhne ki tamanna
bhulne ki aarzu
hafize ki band muTThi mein Thaharta kuchh nahin
har qadam KHwab o KHayal wasl ki lazzat liye
zat ke nile samundar mein kahin
in jaziron ki hawa mein sans lete jo muqaddar mein nahin
DhunDte hain kashtiyon ka rasta
har subh ke aKHbar mein
KHud-kalami ki saDak par dur tak
(laDkhaDate zard patton ki tarah)
kholte hain kashmakash ki gaThriyan
khulti nahin
bhigte hain tez barish mein nadamat ki magar
ruh ki aaludgi dhulti nahin
