H چہل चहल ćahal [S. चिखल्लः; cf. ćěhlā], s.m. A strong kind of soil (ranking between the rauslī or 'sandy' and the ḍakurā or clayey).

P چہل ćihal, ćihil [Zend, ćathware-śata; S. ćatvariṅśat], adj. Forty:—ćihal-tah, s.f. lit. 'Forty-folds'; a coat of mail (=ćilta, q.v.):—ćihal-sutūn, s.m. A pavilion or palace, &c. supported by forty (or a great number of) columns; also=ćihal-manār, q.v.:—ćihal-qadmī, s.f. 'The forty towers'; a name of the ruined city of Persepolis.
