A طاق t̤āq (Ar. form of old P. تاك tāk; and of Pehl. tāk = P. tāh or tā, q.v.), s.m. An arched building; an arch; a cupola, vault; a recess (in a wall), a niche; a shelf; a projecting part, a cornice, a ledge, &c.; a window; a balcony;—adj. & s.m. Single, sole; uneven, odd (opp. to juft); singular, rare, unique, unmatched, unequalled, unrivalled;—a fold, plait, ply:—t̤āq bharnā (-kā), To place a lighted lamp as a votive offering in a niche (in a mosque, &c.):—t̤āq baiṭhnā, v.n.
