H الو उल्लू ullū [S. उलूक], s.m. An owl; (met.) a stupid fellow, blockhead, fool; (in gamblers' parlance) one to be rooked, a 'pigeon';—adj. Stupid, foolish, senseless:—ullū banānā, v.t. To make a fool of, to befool; to take in, gull, cheat:—ullū bannā, ullū honā, v.n. To become a fool, make a fool of oneself, stultify oneself; to be intoxicated:—ullū phāṅsnā or phaṅsānā, v.t. To entrap a green fellow, catch a gull, rook a pigeon:—ullū-kā baććā or paṭṭhā, s.m. lit. 'A young owl'; an arrant fool, a great idiot:—ullū-dās, ullū-dāsrī, s.m. A great simpleton, fool, idiot:—ullū samjhānā (apnā), v.t. To cheat, rook:—ullū-kā mās khānā, lit. 'To eat the flesh of an owl'; to become foolish, stupid, or idiotic.
