Nasikh was the pen-name of Khan Bahadur Abu Mohammad Abdul Ghafoor, who was born in a kazi family of Faridpur and a civil servant by profession. His father, Fakir Muhammad was a lawyer of Kolkata civil court. Apart from Bangla, Urdu and Persian, he also knew Arabic, English and Hindi. He served as deputy magistrate and deputy collector in various places of Bengal, including Dhaka from 1860-1888. Nasikh was essentially an Urdu poet, but also composed poems in Persian. His books of poems include Ashar-e-Nasikh (1866), Daftar-e-Bemisal (1869), Ganj-e-Tawarikh (1873), Armugan (1875) Kanz-e-Tawarikh (1877) and Armugani (1884). Nasikh also wrote a biography of Urdu and Persian poets in Sukhan-e-Shuara (1874).
