Profile of Hamid-ul-Ansari Anjum

Dr. Maulana Hamid-ul- Ansari Anjum was born on May 15, 1932 in Karnjot Bazar District Basti (now District Sant Kabir Nagar) according to educational credentials. He passed away on 17th February 2013 in his native land. His birth name was Abdul Hameed. Later he became known as Hamid Al-Ansari Anjum and Anjum Jamal Ahri. Gradually the name Hamid Al Ansari Anjum became his identity. Late Maulana's early education took place in the village itself. He read Nazra Quran and elementary books of Urdu from his father Mr. Jan Muhammad Ansari. After studying from school, he enrolled in Madrasa Dar Uloom Fatehpur Tehsil Bansi District Basti (now Siddharth Nagar) to study Arabic and Persian. After Fatehpur, he entered Maulana Ubaidur Rahman Sahib's madrasa in Unchahra District Basti. Later, he moved to Madrasa Siraj Uloom Jhanda nagar of Maulana Abdul Rauf Jhanda Nagar, a famous educational institution of Nepal. For higher religious education, he moved to Delhi and enrolled in Madrasa Riaz ul Uloom Jama Masjid and studied Hadith and Fiqh from Shaykhul Hadith Maulana Abdus Salam Bastavi and graduated from there in 1951. He took admission in Tabiyya College at Balli Maran. From where he obtained the degree of Doctor of Medicine and Surgery in 1955. After that he said goodbye to Delhi and returned to his homeland. Where he founded a Madrasa named "Madrasah Madinatul Uloom" which is still standing today. But he was not in charge of the Madrasa for long. He made near by region of Indo-Nepal border his field of action, where he established madrasas at different places and spread the light of religious education. He was the founder of many madrasas as well as many mosques.
The study of newspaper "Al-Jamiya" Delhi and "Madinah" Bijnoor instilled in him a passion for poetry and thus he started experimenting.He was a famous poet of Naat. There are very few poets who have devoted their poetic skills and creative powers only to prose. There are many aspects of his Natiya poetry, each aspect is very absorbing and attractive and requires deep analysis. The eleven poetry collections of Maulana Anjum have been published, most of which are collections of natiya and Iaslamic poems. His first Natiya collection titled "Chirag-e-Haram" was published in 1969 which became extremely popular and became rare in a very short period of time. Local poets started imitating him.
The other collections of Maulana Anjum are detailed as follows: ”Manar-e-Haram” 1st publication 1977 2nd publication February 2003. "Waqt ki Pukaar" First Publication 1961 (Tarjuman Magazine) Second Publication 1976, Third Publication September 2003. It is a long poem and was recited by Maulana Anjum in 1961 at the All India Ahl-e-Hadith conference held in Naugarh District Basti. "Bachchon ke Naghme" 1990. "Nagmah Zaar-e-Anjum" October 2001. " Naat ke Phool" September 2004. "Lahooti Naghme" September 2004. "Islami taraney" September 2004. "Barbat-e-Anjum" November 2004. "Madh-e-Sahaba" 2006. Unpublished collections are as follows: "Tajdar-e- Haram" (Natiyah Collection) "Mimbar wa Mehrab" (Collection of Islamic Poems) "Saalaar-e- Bayt –ul-Haraam" (Poetry) "Khutbat-e-Anjum" (Speeches). He also published three newspapers and magazines which continued to be published for many years one after the other. Their names are: Al-Hilal, Al-Mootamir and Khabarnama.
In recognition of his religious, academic, literary and journalistic services, the Markazi Jamiat Ahle Hadith of India awarded him a certificate and award in 2004 at its 28th All India Conference held in Pakur, Jharkhand. On his life and services, his younger son Dr. Shams Kamal Anjum has authored a memoir called "Nuqoosh-e-Jaavadan" which was published in Delhi in 2008. His other son Suhail Anjum on his life and services has written an biographical book titled ‘’Anjum-e-Tabaan" which was published in 2013. Suhail Anjum has also compiled a book called "Nuqoosh-e Anjum" (2021), which includes articles by various eminent scholars. World Urdu Day commemorative magazine has also been published in 2017 for all your services. All the published and unpublished works of Maulana Anjum have been published by Dr. Shams Kamal Anjum in 2019 under the name of "Kuliyat Anjum".Tagged Under
