Profile of Neelum Ahmad Basheer
Neelum Ahmad Basheer is a fiction writer, novelist, poet, traveloguer, sketch writer, critic and researcher. She has a Master's degree in Psychology. She is the elder daughter of well-known journalist, writer and film-maker Janab Ahmad Basheer with Mehmooda Begum, her family includes the genius of sisters Bushra Ansari, Sunmbul Shahid and Asma Abbas. She was raised in Lahore, Pakistan then at the peak of her youth, moved to the U.S. after her marriage.She reckons Mumtaz Mufti as her mentor whose encouragement inspired her to pursue writing as a vocation.
She is the Author of almost ten books, Gulaboon Wali Gali, Jugnoon Kay Qaflay, Lay Sans Bhi Ahista, Wehshat Hi Sahi, Nipal Nama, Situmgur Setember, Eik Thi Malika, Chaar Chand, Taoos Faqat Rung. Her tenth book is a collection of Punjabi Short Stories named "Har Gucha Zakhmaya." Taoos Faqat Rung has recently awarded by Khalild Ahmad Literary Society.
She is a great advocate of the principles of feminism and humanism; she has modern and liberal approach towards life. Through her notable work she discusses sensitive and delicate issues related to female psyche in a male dominated society. She questions the taboos that are restricting our women from their basic rights to avail and caging her in the name of so called values.
Her phenomenal works are actually studies of our sociocultural evolution and development that influences the society and affects the lives of her characters. Her writing is daring, dynamic, bold, honest, subtle and insightful. She respects prudence and rationality, she believes that the intellect and wisdom will always prevail as sovereign bounties that are bestowed upon human race by Almighty.
Usha Verma, a UK based writer has translated one of her short stories Wujood-e-Zun in Hindi.

New Urdu Writings: From India & Pakistan (2013)
Dr.Rania Mohammad Fozi from Jamia Al-Azhar has translated her notable short stories book, "Eik thi Malika" from Urdu to Arabic language .
She was invited by Arshad Khan, a Canadian directer/writer to compose the Urdu-script for one of his documentary films.
On behalf of Almi Adbi Tanzeem of India, "Katha Saman" she was invited by Mr.Tejinder Sharma as chief guest and being awarded for her remarkable work.
In the eminent universities of Canada and the U.S. many of her short stories are the part of their curriculum in Urdu Literature Department.Tagged Under
