lam nastaliq ka hai us but-e-KHush-KHat ki zulf
Interesting Fact
In the Nasta'liq script, the alphabet 'L' is likened to curled tresses of the beloved. The poet says to himself, 'I cannot deny that 'Laam' i.e. the tresses of the beloved'. The interesting thing is that the poet has used both its meanings with great skill.
laam nastālīq kā hai us but-e-ḳhush-ḳhat kī zulf
ham to kāfir hoñ agar bande na hoñ is laam ke
lam nastaliq ka hai us but-e-KHush-KHat ki zulf
hum to kafir hon agar bande na hon is lam ke
