"دور حاضر اور اردو غزل گوئی" اردو غزل سے متعلق عندلیب شادانی کے مختلف مضامین کا مجموعہ ہے ۔جس میں مصنف نے اردو غزل گوئی کا عہد بہ عہد جائزہ لیاہے۔مصنف نے کتاب کو آٹھ ابواب میں تقسیم کیا ہے۔پہلے باب میں "دور حاضر اور اردو غزل گوئی کے تحت مضامین فرسودہ ، حسرت کا نظریہ حسن و عشق اور حسرت کی حالات زندگی کو پیش کیا ہے۔دوسرے باب میں اصغر ، فانی ،جگر،کے موضوعات غزل کا تجزیہ، تیسرے باب میں غزل کے مقبول کردار جیسے زاہد ، واعظ ، ناصح،محبوب وغیرہ کی دلچسپ تجزیہ ،چوتھا باب میں منتخبہ واقعات ،پانچواں باب میں فلسفہ و تصوف کے تحت حسرت ،اصغر، فانی اور جگر کی غزلوں کا تجزیہ کیا گیا ہے۔ چھٹا باب غزل کے پیرائیہ، اوزان ، وغیرہ ،ساتواں باب سرقہ شاعری اور آٹھواں باب میں اغلاط حسرت ،اغلاط جگر اور اغلاط فانی پر گفتگو کی گئی ہے۔اس طرح عندلیب شادانی نے حسرت ،اصغر ،فانی اور جگر کے غزلیہ کلام پر مختلف موضوعات کے تحت اردو غزل گوئی کا جائزہ تنقیدی انداز میں لیا ہے۔

Andaleeb Shadani retains his reputation as a prominent romantic poet. He also wrote short stories, criticism, and critical biographies. He was born on March 01, 1904. He hailed from Sambhal in Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh. He got his degree of M. A. in Persian from Panjab University and his doctorate from London in 1934. He taught Urdu and Persian at Hindu College of Delhi University. Later, he joined Dacca University as a lecturer.

Shadani published his poetry in a collection called Nishaat-e-Rafta. His other works include Naqsh-e-Badee, Urdu Ghazal Goi aur Daur-e-Haazir, Surood-e-Rafta, Sachhi Kahaniyaan, Sharh-e-Rubaiyat-e-Baba Tahir, Nosh-o-Naish, Tehqeeq ki Roshni Mein, Jadeed Farsi Zaban pe Francisisi Ke Asaraat. He also published a journal called Khawar which created a space for Urdu literature and its readership in Dacca.

He died on 29 July, 1969 in Dacca.
