Dr. Bano Sartaj Qazi Pen name, Bano sartaj. Born on 17July, 1945 in Pandharkwada, Yuvatmal  District, Maharashtra.  Now based in Chanderpur, Maharashtra. she is a fiction writer, humorist and  translator.  She is an important name in children’s literature. She has written numerous stories, novels and one-act plays for children. Educational qualifications:  B.Ed.MA (Urdu, Hindi, History). P. HD  in Education and Post Graduate Diploma in Gandhian Thoughts. She writes in both Hindi and Urdu. She is a Teacher by profession and was  the principal of Lal Bahadur Shastri college of education in Bilaspur, Chattisgarh.  Apart from the award from the President of  India for children's literature, she has received numerous awards from various state Urdu academies and other organizations. She is   also  very active in social welfare work.
