josh malihabadi's journal "kaleem" – a voice of progressive values the journal "kaleem", launched by josh malihabadi, was an advocate of progressive values. its publication began in january 1936. initially, josh malihabadi had announced it under the title "kaakh-e-buland" (the lofty palace), but later, the name was changed to "kaleem". the journal featured articles under various sections such as: "isharat" (indications), "raftaar-e-waqt" (the course of time), "akhbar-e-urdu" (news on urdu), and "naqd-o-nazar" (criticism and opinion). within a short span, kaleem succeeded in attracting the attention of intellectuals and scholars. josh malihabadi made tireless efforts to make this journal as informative and impactful as possible. however, due to the indifference of the literary community, the journal faced publication difficulties. josh malihabadi referred to kaleem as "the voice of his soul," but due to the apathy of writers and unfavorable circumstances, this voice was eventually silenced. as a result, kaleem could only continue for three years before ceasing publication.
