Akhtar Raza Saleemi was born Muhammad Pervaiz Akhtar on 16 June 1974, at Kekot Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. He received his preliminary education in his own village and learnt Urdu, Persian etc at an early age. Later he shifted to Karachi for where he did his matriculation and Intermediate.He again moved to Islamabad for higher studies and completed his graduation from the prestigious Allama Iqbal University. Akhtar was essentially a poet of the ghazal tradition however he restricted himself from being a stereotype and experiment his skills in other genre of literature like nazam, fiction, novel etc. His poetry collections 'Khawab Daan' has been praised by the critics.
