Naseem Amrohvi belonged to the noted Taqvi Syed family. Born as Syed Qasim Raza to Syed Barjees Hussain Taqvi and Syeda Khatoon, he adopted the pen name ‘Naseem’.
In 1950, he migrated to Pakistan after partition of India and Pakistan, settling in Khairpur. Later in 1961, he moved to Karachi and lived there till his death.
He was a member of Urdu Lughat Board and compiled an Urdu dictionary ‘Naseem-ul-Lughat’ over a span of several years. For every word, the dictionary provides not only its meaning, its usage, its related proverbs but also the verses containing it.
Islamiya University, Bahawalpur grants Doctorate degrees on Naseem Amrohvi.
Khutbat-e-Mushran, Adabi Kahaaniyan, Naseem-ul-Lughat, Musaddas-e-Naseem, Farhang-e-Iqbal are the titles of some of his works.
