Abdus Subhaan was born in Tata Nagar, Jamshedpur, Bihar in 1922. His father died when he was quite young, so he could not continue his education and joined Tata Iron and Steel Company as a mechanic. During this period, he began writing poetry and had become a disciple of Kamal Meenaaiee. He used to write using the pen name Naqsh. After partition, he moved to Dhaka where his poetry and life were passing smoothly, then the turbulent period of 1970 forced him to be part of another exodus and he came to Karachi with his family. Joo-E-Khoon, Nawishta,Chashm-E-Khyal, Khushbu Ki Dhanak and Harf Meri Kainaat are the collections of his poetry. He died on 31 January 2005 in Karachi.
