Sahir Sheevi’s real name is Abdullah. He was born on 29 December 1936 in the Sheev of district Ratnagiri, Maharashtra. He had started poetry during his college days. He has been the disciple of Molana Qamar Noman Sehrami and Kalidas Gupta Raza. He has been living in Britain since 1994. Transport and printing are his bread and butter. He has nine books to his credit, these are Nem-E-Shagufta, Waqt Ka Suraj, Sehra Kid Hoop, Silsila Muntashir Khyalo Ka, Paanchwa Aasman, Abhi Manzil Nahi Aaiee, Waseela-E-Nijaat, Waadiy-E-Kokun, and Kokun Khushbu. Sehra Ki Dhoop won the Urdu academy Award of Maharashtra. He has written five books in prose as well. Kali Das Gupta - Shakhsiyat Aur Shair and Catch a Bird (short stories) are the two of them. Besides Urdu Hindi and Marathi, he is also acquainted with English, Swahili and Punjabi. He was selected for Honorary Doctorate along with Baani and the in charge of Safeer-e-Urdu.
