Ehsan Darbhangawi was one of the most prominent poets to have learnt his art from senior poet Jamil Mazhari whom he loved for his unique personality, thoughts, and poetic merit. It was said that even if the poetry of Jamil Mazhari got out of print or got lost, the same could be retrieved from the memory of Ehsan Darbhangawi who could dictate them verbatim.
Ehsan Darbhangawi’s real name was Ehsanur Rahman Khan. He was born in a place called Kothia, Mirzapur in Darbhanga district of Bihar. His younger brother Owais Ahmad Dauraan was also a prominent Progressive poet.
Ehsan published his collection of poems entitled Shahr-e-Aarzoo in 1985 from Calcutta. He passed away in 1998 at his native place.
