About The Author
Pandit Amar Nath who was known as Sahir Dehlavi was born in 1863 in Delhi. He painfully witnessed the degenerated socio-political and cultural life of Delhi following the decline of Mughal Empire. This turned him into a mystical poet and also added a philosophical character to his poetry. Apart from being a scholar of Arabic and Persian, Sahir was also a scholar of Sanskrit with a deep understanding of Yogabhyaas and Vedanta. All these rich influences found their philosophical and mystical configurations in his Urdu diwan entitled Kufr-e-Ishq and Persian collection of poems called Chiragh-e-Maarfat. Sahir died in 1962.
