Adeeb, Allahabad

In 1910, a monthly illustrated literary magazine titled "Adeeb" was launched from Allahabad under the editorship of Naubat Rai Nazar. The magazine featured a diverse range of subjects and maintained high editorial standards. Its content covered philosophy, industry and science, economics, politics, civilization and culture, education, Hindu traditions and religion, Islam and related topics, the Middle East, Urdu language and literature, Arabic and Persian poetry, Urdu poets, painting, architecture and archaeology, short stories, ghazals, nazms, memoirs, newspapers, and magazines. Apart from Naubat Rai Nazar, the magazine's editorial team included Pyare Lal Shakir Meeruthi, a Christian poet and writer, and Haseer Azimabadi, an expert in philology. This collaboration among Hindus, Christians, and Muslims enriched Adeeb, reflecting Urdu’s pluralistic and inclusive nature.
