In January 1926, Suhail was launched from Aligarh. It was a quarterly academic journal published by Anjuman Urdu-e-Mu’alla, affiliated with Muslim University, Aligarh. Professor Rasheed Ahmad Siddiqui (Alig) served as its editor. One notable aspect of Suhail’s objectives was the principle that it should not become a means of mere appeasement for poets and prose writers. This stands in contrast to the approach of many contemporary magazines, which tend to prioritize appeasement, leading to a general complaint about the decline in quality literary works. Suhail was distinct in this regard, as its editorial leadership under Professor Rasheed Ahmad Siddiqui was deeply insightful, with a profound understanding of literature and various fields of knowledge. As a result, only valuable and substantive articles were published in Suhail.
