bashar kī zaat ko ġham se kahāñ mafar hai miyāñ
hazār kahiye koī ġham nahīñ magar hai miyāñ
safar meñ zād-e-safar hī to kaam aatā hai
safar ko sahl na jaano safar safar hai miyāñ
malāl kyā kareñ dastār ke na hone kā
vabāl-e-dosh yahāñ to ḳhud apnā sar hai miyāñ
ba-āfiyat guzar aa.e the har talātum se
magar kināre pe ab Dūbne kā Dar hai miyāñ
ye zindagī jo masā.il se par hai āḳhir tak
use basar bhī to karnā baḌā hunar hai miyāñ
jo poñchhe bhī koī aañsū to poñchhe kis kis ke
har ek aañkh yahāñ āñsuoñ se tar hai miyāñ
zamāna ho gayā bāzī-e-dil to haare hue
rahī hayāt so ab vo bhī daav par hai miyāñ
hai us kā tālib-e-dīd aa.ina bhī maiñ hī nahīñ
vo pur-kashish hai bahut jāzib-nazar hai miyāñ
ḳhushī to hastī-e-nā-mo.atabar na degī 'vaqār'
jo rishta ġham se hai vo phir bhī mo'atabar hai miyāñ
bashar ki zat ko gham se kahan mafar hai miyan

har ek aankh yahan aansuon se tar hai miyan
zamana ho gaya bazi-e-dil to haare hue

wo pur-kashish hai bahut jazib-nazar hai miyan
