Dar to mujhe kis kā hai ki maiñ kuchh nahīñ kahtā
par haal ye ifshā hai ki maiñ kuchh nahīñ kahtā
tis not because of fear that from speaking I refrain
but as my state is known to all, so quiet I remain
nāseh ye gila kyā hai ki maiñ kuchh nahīñ kahtā
tū kab mirī suntā hai ki maiñ kuchh nahīñ kahtā
O preacher you complain about my silent state today
whenever do you listen to me whatever I say
maiñ bolūñ to chup hote haiñ ab aap jabhī tak
ye ranjish-e-bejā hai ki maiñ kuchh nahīñ kahtā
you stay silent only till I've started to express
unfounded is your anger then at my speechlessness
kuchh ġhair se hoñToñ meñ kahe hai ye jo pūchho
tū vūhīñ mukartā hai ki maiñ kuchh nahīñ kahtā
she whispers to my rival and when I ask replies
I did not talk to him at all and blatantly denies
kab paas phaTakne duuñ raqīboñ ko tumhāre
par paas tumhārā hai ki maiñ kuchh nahīñ kahtā
would I ever let my foes get anywhere so near?

nāseh ko jo chāhūñ to abhī Thiik banā duuñ
par ḳhauf ḳhudā kā hai ki maiñ kuchh nahīñ kahtā

kyā kyā na kahe ġhair kī gar baat na pūchho
ye hausla merā hai ki maiñ kuchh nahīñ kahtā
if I don’t ask about my foe, you rant and rave like how

kyā kahiye nasīboñ ko ki aġhyār kā shikva
sun sun ke vo chupkā hai ki maiñ kuchh nahīñ kahtā

hai uzr par aisā hai ki maiñ kuchh nahīñ kahtā

kuchh sun ke jo maiñ chup huuñ to tum kahte ho bolo
samjho to ye thoḌā hai ki maiñ kuchh nahīñ kahtā
when I'm silent at your words, you ask me to speak out
my quiet's no small matter, you should not be in doubt
suntā nahīñ vo varna ye sargoshi-e-aġhyār
kyā mujh ko gavārā hai ki maiñ kuchh nahīñ kahtā
