MORE BYKhalilur Rahman Azmi
darmiyāñ ḳhud apnī hastī ho to ham bhī kyā kareñ
ā.īna dekheñ ki apne-āp se pardā kareñ
When one’s being is in between what action should entail
Should one look into the mirror or else cast a veil?
haal ke sailāb meñ to bah ga.ī maazī kī laash
dafn ab kis kī galī meñ ham ġham-e-fardā kareñ
In floods of present time the corpse of past is swept away
In whose street should one inter tomorrow’s sorrow say?
ek do pal hī rahegā sab ke chehroñ kā tilism
koī aisā ho ki jis ko der tak dekhā kareñ
Each and every face shall cast its spell a moment, two
There should be someone who for long I can hold in view
ye to sach hai zahr lagte haiñ hameñ bastī ke log
kis tavaqqo par magar ābād ye sahrā kareñ
Tis true that city people just as poison to me seem
On what hope this wilderness then shall I redeem?
sar-phire sab jam.a hoñ sab ke saroñ par ho charāġh
bas chale to ham bhī aisā jashn ik barpā kareñ
With lamps upon their head should gather people all deranged
If but I could a festival like this I’d have arranged
darmiyan KHud apni hasti ho to hum bhi kya karen
aaina dekhen ki apne-ap se parda karen
When one’s being is in between what action should entail
Should one look into the mirror or else cast a veil?
haal ke sailab mein to bah gai mazi ki lash
dafn ab kis ki gali mein hum gham-e-farda karen
In floods of present time the corpse of past is swept away
In whose street should one inter tomorrow’s sorrow say?
ek do pal hi rahega sab ke chehron ka tilism
koi aisa ho ki jis ko der tak dekha karen
Each and every face shall cast its spell a moment, two
There should be someone who for long I can hold in view
ye to sach hai zahr lagte hain hamein basti ke log
kis tawaqqo par magar aabaad ye sahra karen
Tis true that city people just as poison to me seem
On what hope this wilderness then shall I redeem?
sar-phire sab jama hon sab ke saron par ho charagh
bas chale to hum bhi aisa jashn ek barpa karen
With lamps upon their head should gather people all deranged
If but I could a festival like this I’d have arranged
