ek wahshat hai rahguzaron mein
ek vahshat hai rahguzāroñ meñ
qāfile luT ga.e bahāroñ meñ
saaz ḳhāmosh aarzū bīmār
koī naġhma nahīñ hai tāroñ meñ
is taraf bhī nigāh-e-duzdīda
ham bhī haiñ zindagī ke māroñ meñ
ye to ik ittifāq hai varna
aap aur mere ġham-gusāroñ meñ
aadmī aadmī na ban paayā
bastiyāñ luT ga.iiñ ishāroñ meñ
dekh kar vaqt ke taġhayyur ko
chāñd sahmā huā hai tāroñ meñ
the kabhī rūh-e-anjuman 'shaukat'
ab to haiñ ajnabī se yāroñ meñ
ek wahshat hai rahguzaron mein

koi naghma nahin hai taron mein
is taraf bhi nigah-e-duzdida
hum bhi hain zindagi ke maron mein
ye to ek ittifaq hai warna
aap aur mere gham-gusaron mein
aadmi aadmi na ban paya
bastiyan luT gain ishaaron mein
dekh kar waqt ke taghayyur ko
chand sahma hua hai taron mein
