tum javāboñ meñ the maiñ savāloñ meñ thā
ik ġhazal kyā kahī maiñ ne tere liye
tazkira us kā kitne risāloñ meñ thā
mere chehre pe raunaq thī lab pe hañsī
in dinoñ jab zamāna zavāloñ meñ thā
aarzū us kī mere hī dil meñ na thī
maiñ bhī bachpan se us ke ḳhayāloñ meñ thā
machhliyāñ pyaas se muztarib thiiñ 'asad'
ban ke kaalī ghaTā abr bāloñ meñ thā
