घने दरख़्त के साए में जब क़ियाम हुआ
मैं पहली बार परिंदों से हम-कलाम हुआ
बनाने वाले ने सोचा ये दिल बनाते हुए
कहीं तो अपने भी रहने का इंतिज़ाम हुआ
फ़लक से यूँ ही तो हम ख़ाक पर नहीं आए
हमारे वास्ते क्या क्या ना एहतिमाम हुआ
न जाने कौन सी जन्नत की जुस्तुजू है तुझे
कि जिस के वास्ते जीना मिरा हराम हुआ
बचा के लाया था जिन्नात से मैं शहज़ादी
इसी के साथ कहानी का इख़्तिताम हुआ
अजीब कैफ़ में डूबी थीं उँगलियाँ 'अरशद'
किसी का लम्स मिरी उम्र भर का जाम हुआ
