haal dil ka ayan nahin hota
haal dil kā ayaañ nahīñ hotā
ham se ab kuchh bayāñ nahīñ hotā
but-kada ho haram ki mai-ḳhāna
zikr terā kahāñ nahīñ hotā
ik nazar ḳhud pe Dāliye sāhab
aa.ina bad-zabāñ nahīñ hotā
mausam-e-gul bhī is baras ham par
jaane kyoñ mehrbāñ nahīñ hotā
uf tasavvur ke silsile 'zāhid'
ḳhatm ye kārvāñ nahīñ hotā
