hamein sab ahl-e-hawas na-pasand rakhte hain
hameñ sab ahl-e-havas nā-pasand rakhte haiñ
ki ham navā-e-mohabbat buland rakhte haiñ
isī liye to ḳhafā haiñ sitam-shi.ār ki ham
nigāh-e-narm o dil-e-dardmand rakhte haiñ
agarche dil vahī raj.at-pasand hai apnā
magar zabān taraqqī-pasand rakhte haiñ
ham aise arsh-nashīnoñ se vo daraḳht achchhe
jo āñdhiyoñ meñ bhī sar ko buland rakhte haiñ
chale ho dekhne 'mushtāq' jin ko pichhlī raat
vo log shaam se darvāza band rakhte haiñ

jo aandhiyon mein bhi sar ko buland rakhte hain

wo log sham se darwaza band rakhte hain
