इस ठहराव से पहले बताएँ कैसे रहते थे
हम दरिया थे अपनी मौज में बहते रहते थे
उस के ग़लत रवय्ये पर चुप रहना पड़ता था
लड़ सकते थे उस से मगर हम सहते रहते थे
उस ने धोका दे के बताया दुनिया कैसी है
वर्ना हम क्या ख़ाक समझते जैसे रहते थे
उस बस्ती में एक ग़ज़ब का मेला लगता था
वो आती रहती थी हम भी आते रहते थे
इन आँखों में ख़्वाबों वाले जुगनू रौशन थे
इन चेहरों पे अक्सर फूल बरसते रहते थे
दिल-आज़ारी करना अपना काम था दुनिया में
जो कुछ भी जी में आ जाता कहते रहते थे
