ishq mein KHud husn-e-ghaarat-gar luTa
'ishq meñ ḳhud husn-e-ġhārat-gar luTā
lūTne vaalā yahāñ aakar luTā
thā dil-e-barbād meñ ābād kaun
lūTne vaale ye kis kā ghar luTā
naqd-e-dīn-o-naqd-e-īmāñ naqd-e-dil
paas jo kuchh ho luTā un par luTā
bul-havas the 'aql ke sarmāya-dār
'ishq meñ nādār hī aksar luTā
thī mohabbat hī vo rāh-e-pur-ḳhatar
saath rah-rau ke jahāñ rahbar luTā
lūTne vāloñ kā shikva kuchh nahīñ
apne hāthoñ hī 'zahīn' aksar luTā
'ishq mein KHud husn-e-ghaarat-gar luTa
luTne wala yahan aakar luTa
tha dil-e-barbaad mein aabaad kaun
luTne wale ye kis ka ghar luTa
naqd-e-din-o-naqd-e-iman naqd-e-dil
pas jo kuchh ho luTa un par luTa
bul-hawas the 'aql ke sarmaya-dar
'ishq mein nadar hi aksar luTa
thi mohabbat hi wo rah-e-pur-KHatar
sath rah-rau ke jahan rahbar luTa
luTne walon ka shikwa kuchh nahin
apne hathon hi 'zahin' aksar luTa
