merī tārīḳh ke siine pe utar aa.ī thī
apnī sañgīnoñ meñ is raat kī saffāk sipah
duudh piite hue bachchoñ ko piro laa.ī thī
ghar ke āñgan meñ ravāñ ḳhuun thā ghar vāloñ kā
aur har khet pe sho.aloñ kī ghaTā chhā.ī thī
rāste band the lāshoñ se paTī galiyoñ meñ
bhiiḌ sī bhiiḌ thī tanhā.ī sī tanhā.ī thī

meri tariKH ke sine pe utar aai thi
apni sanginon mein is raat ki saffak sipah
dudh pite hue bachchon ko piro lai thi
ghar ke aangan mein rawan KHun tha ghar walon ka
aur har khet pe shoalon ki ghaTa chhai thi
raste band the lashon se paTi galiyon mein
bhiD si bhiD thi tanhai si tanhai thi
