tujhe pā ke bhī mirā dil jo udaas hai to kyuuñ hai
mujhe kyuuñ azīz-tar hai ye dhuāñ dhuāñ sā mausam
ye havā-e-shām-e-hijrāñ mujhe raas hai to kyuuñ hai
tujhe kho ke sochtā huuñ mire dāman-e-talab meñ
koī ḳhvāb hai to kyuuñ hai koī aas hai to kyuuñ hai
maiñ ujaḌ ke bhī huuñ terā tū bichhaḌ ke bhī hai merā
ye yaqīn hai to kyuuñ hai ye qayās hai to kyuuñ hai
mire tan barahna-dushman isī ġham meñ ghul rahe haiñ
ki mire badan pe sālim ye libās hai to kyuuñ hai
kabhī pūchh us ke dil se ki ye ḳhush-mizāj shā.ir
bahut apnī shā.irī meñ jo udaas hai to kyuuñ hai
tirā kis ne dil bujhāyā mire 'e.atibār-sājid'
ye charāġh-e-hijr ab tak tire paas hai to kyuuñ hai
kabhi tu ne KHud bhi socha ki ye pyas hai to kyun hai
tujhe pa ke bhi mera dil jo udas hai to kyun hai
mujhe kyun aziz-tar hai ye dhuan dhuan sa mausam
ye hawa-e-sham-e-hijran mujhe ras hai to kyun hai
tujhe kho ke sochta hun mere daman-e-talab mein
koi KHwab hai to kyun hai koi aas hai to kyun hai
main ujaD ke bhi hun tera tu bichhaD ke bhi hai mera
ye yaqin hai to kyun hai ye qayas hai to kyun hai
mere tan barahna-dushman isi gham mein ghul rahe hain
ki mere badan pe salim ye libas hai to kyun hai
kabhi puchh us ke dil se ki ye KHush-mizaj shair
