kahte haiñ jis ko maut hai vaqfa hayāt kā
dariyā-e-zīst ek hai sāhil jagah jagah
dair-o-haram se duur hai shāyad tirā maqām
yaañ varna har qadam pe hai manzil jagah jagah
ḳhush-rañg-o-ḳhush-nigāh ḳhush-andām ḳhūb-rū
phaile hue haiñ shahr meñ qātil jagah jagah
