कली फूट आए चटकने न पाए
तड़प जाए बुलबुल चहकने न पाए
घुले गरचे सीने में दिल ऐ हमिय्यत
मगर कोई आँसू टपकने न पाए
वही रिंद है रिंद इस मय-कदे का
जो खुल कर पिए और बहकने न पाए
बड़ी आज़माइश है वो अश्क-ए-लर्ज़ां
जो उमडे मगर फिर टपकने न पाए
क़फ़स क्या है तिनकों की बोदी सी साज़िश
असीर इस के अंदर फड़कने न पाए
मज़े आशिक़ी के अगर हैं तो जब हैं
सुलगती रहे और भड़कने न पाए
शब-ए-ग़म की ज़ुल्मत का इतना तहफ़्फ़ुज़
कहीं इक शरर तक चमकने न पाए
