kaun batā.e kyā hai haqīqat aur banā afsāna kyā
dil kī bastī kyā bastī hai basnā kyā luT jaanā kyā
barsoñ ne jo rishte joḌe pal bhar ne vo toḌ diye
pyāre! ab TuuTe TukḌoñ se apnā jī bahlānā kyā
aaj to jūñ-tūñ kaT jā.egā kal kī socho kyā hogā
jo guzrī so guzar chukī itrānā kyā pachhtānā kyā
kaisā tūfāñ kaisī balā.eñ yāro! ye bhī socho to
sīkhā hai mar mar ke jiinā jīte-jī mar jaanā kyā
jaane kitne Dūbne vaale sāhil par bhī Duub ga.e
pyāre! tūfānoñ meñ rah kar itnā bhī ghabrānā kyā
tanhā tanhā jī ke dekhā saath bhī jī ke dekh liyā
ham ne kyā samjhā hai jiinā auroñ ko samjhānā kyā
sūd-o-ziyāñ kī bāteñ chhoḌo aur hī bāteñ chheḌo bhī
ishq ke hāthoñ kyā khoyā hai kyā paayā dohrānā kyā
apnī rām-kahānī meñ bhī jag-bītī kā jaadū thā
palkeñ jhapkī jaatī haiñ ab ḳhatm huā afsāna kyā

sikha hai mar mar ke jina jite-ji mar jaana kya
jaane kitne Dubne wale sahil par bhi Dub gae
pyare! tufanon mein rah kar itna bhi ghabrana kya
tanha tanha ji ke dekha sath bhi ji ke dekh liya
hum ne kya samjha hai jina auron ko samjhana kya
sud-o-ziyan ki baaten chhoDo aur hi baaten chheDo bhi
ishq ke hathon kya khoya hai kya paya dohrana kya
apni ram-kahani mein bhi jag-biti ka jadu tha
palken jhapki jati hain ab KHatm hua afsana kya
