KHwab ka izn tha tabir-e-ijazat thi mujhe
ḳhvāb kā izn thā ta.abīr-e-ijāzat thī mujhe
vo samay aisā thā marne meñ suhulat thī mujhe
ek be-barg shajar dhund meñ lipTā huā thā
shāḳh par baiThī duāoñ kī zarūrat thī mujhe
raat masjid meñ añdherā to bahut thā lekin
yaad bhūlī sī koī rāh-e-ibādat thī mujhe
ai mirī jaañ vahī 'ġhālib' kī sī hālat thī mirī
tere jaane kī ghaḌī thī ki qayāmat thī mujhe
dāstāñ-go ne dikhā dī thī mujhe shahzādī
aur phir ḳhvāb meñ chalne kī bhī aadat thī mujhe

dastan-go ne dikha di thi mujhe shahzadi
aur phir KHwab mein chalne ki bhi aadat thi mujhe
