jab uThe haath duāoñ ko to gauhar barse
tak rahe the tire ghar ko vo samāñ bhī kyā thā
tū guzartā hai havā aa.ī to ham ye samjhe
kitnī hī baar kiyā ham ne to zamzam se vazū
kitnī hī baar tirī yaad meñ aañsū chhalke
surma-e-ḳhāk-e-madīna jo lagā āñkhoñ meñ
misl ā.īne ke āñkhoñ ke nagīne chamke

tu guzarta hai hawa aai to hum ye samjhe
kitni hi bar kiya hum ne to zamzam se wazu
kitni hi bar teri yaad mein aansu chhalke
surma-e-KHak-e-madina jo laga aankhon mein
misl aaine ke aankhon ke nagine chamke
