    maiñ nahīñ huuñ barham us zulf-e-kaj-adā se

    Tuk muñh tirā jo paa.eñ uljheñ abhī havā se

    tum ne nikālne meñ kuchh kam na kiiñ jafā.eñ

    ab tak jo tham rahe haiñ ham apnī vafā se

    pahlī nigah meñ dil par barchhī lag ga.ī hai

    pahuñche the intihā ko ham us ibtidā se

    rakhnā qadam zamīñ par Tuk dekh kar pyāre

    dil raah meñ paḌe haiñ lākhoñ ke naqsh-e-pā se

    ai tabīb yaañ se itnā nahīñ samajhtā

    bīmārī-e-mohabbat kis ga.ī davā se

    maiñ āshiq-e-balā huuñ kartā huuñ us ko sajda

    ḳhāk-e-qadam ko us jo aao karbalā se

    mash.hūr thī buzurgī un sabhoñ se lekin

    apne ta.iiñ ta.āruf chandāñ na thā ziyā se

    aksar galī se us dekhā thā maiñ ne jaate

    ho ga.e the is sabab se kuchh sūrat-āshnā se

    kal un ko maiñ ne dekhā sar nañge pā-barahna

    jaama jo hai galī meñ sau TukḌe jā-ba-jā se

    dar-parda yuuñ maiñ un se pūchhā ki qibla-e-man

    kyuuñ aaj is qadar haiñ āzurda-o-ḳhafā se

    mahjūb se vo ho kar kahne lage na pūchho

    mar jaa.eñ ilāhī chhūTeñ kahīñ balā se

    ye turfa mājrā hai ik pe dil diyā hai

    par qahr haiñ vahāñ ke lauñDe zarā zarā se

    itnī umr meñ ye ayyāriyāñ haiñ karte

    lete haiñ dil ko pahle de de bahut dilāse

    jab dekhte haiñ aayā ab iḳhtiyār meñ dil

    jo dekhiyo to phir pesh aate haiñ is adā se

    maiñ ne kahā ki hazrat aap apnī tarf dekheñ

    jo in butoñ se hogā so hogā vo ḳhudā se

    be-iḳhtiyār ho kar bole ki sach hai sāhab

    vāqif nahīñ hue ho ishq-e-havas-fazā se

    dariyā ke rahne vaale kyā jāneñ is asar ko

    paanī qadr pūchho un se jo haiñ piyāse

    KHak-e-qadam ko us ki jo aao karbala se

    mashhur thi buzurgi un ki sabhon se lekin

    apne tain taaruf chandan na tha ziya se

    aksar gali se us ki dekha tha main ne jate

    ho gae the is sabab se kuchh surat-ashna se

    kal un ko main ne dekha sar nange pa-barahna

    jama jo hai gali mein sau TukDe ja-ba-ja se

    dar-parda yun main un se puchha ki qibla-e-man

    kyun aaj is qadar hain aazurda-o-KHafa se

    mahjub se wo ho kar kahne lage na puchho

    mar jaen ya ilahi chhuTen kahin bala se

    ye turfa majra hai ek ja pe dil diya hai

    par qahr hain wahan ke launDe zara zara se

    itni si umr mein ye ayyariyan hain karte

    lete hain dil ko pahle de de bahut dilase

    jab dekhte hain aaya ab iKHtiyar mein dil

    jo dekhiyo to phir pesh aate hain is ada se

    main ne kaha ki hazrat aap apni tarf dekhen

    jo in buton se hoga so hoga wo KHuda se

    be-iKHtiyar ho kar bole ki sach hai sahab

    waqif nahin hue ho ishq-e-hawas-faza se

    dariya ke rahne wale kya jaanen is asar ko

    pani ki qadr puchho un se jo hain piyase
