merī zamīñ pe har koī kyoñ sho’la-posh thā
tū jāntā thā phir bhī tū chup thā ḳhamosh thā
terī sabīl-gāh meñ jo aa ke luT gayā
merī qabīl kā koī ḳhāna-ba-dosh thā
sab kī tumhāre shahr meñ thī tājirāna soch
ḳhushbū-farosh jo nahīñ vo gul-farosh thā
jugnū parakh liye to sitāroñ kī chaah kī
apne yahāñ ke bachchoñ kā itnā hī dosh thā

tu jaanta tha phir bhi tu chup tha KHamosh tha
teri sabil-gah mein jo aa ke luT gaya
meri qabil ka koi KHana-ba-dosh tha
sab ki tumhaare shahr mein thi tajirana soch
KHushbu-farosh jo nahin wo gul-farosh tha
jugnu parakh liye to sitaron ki chah ki
apne yahan ke bachchon ka itna hi dosh tha
