yuuñ hī hairān-o-ḳhafā joñ ġhuncha-e-tasvīr hoñ
umr guzrī par na jaanā maiñ ki kyuuñ dil-gīr hoñ
itnī bāteñ mat banā mujh shefte se nāsehā
pand ke laa.eq nahīñ maiñ qābil-e-zanjīr hoñ
surḳh rahtī haiñ mirī āñkheñ lahū rone se shaiḳh
mai agar sābit ho mujh par vājib al-ta.azīr huuñ
ne falak par raah mujh ko ne zamīñ par rau mujhe
aise kis mahrūm kā meñ shor-e-be-tāsīr huuñ
joñ kamāñ garche ḳhamīda huuñ pe chhūTā aur vahīñ
us ke kūche kī taraf chalne ko yaaro tiir huuñ
jo mire hisse meñ aave teġh-e-jamdhar sail-o-kard
ye fuzūlī hai ki maiñ hī kushta-e-shamshīr huuñ
khol kar dīvān merā dekh qudrat mudda.ī
garche huuñ maiñ naujavāñ par shā.iroñ kā piir huuñ
yuuñ sa.ādat ek jamdhar mujh ko bhī guzāriye
munsifī kiije to maiñ to mahz be-taqsīr huuñ
is qadar be-nañg ḳhabtoñ ko nasīhat shaiḳh-jī
baaz aao varna apne naam ko maiñ 'mīr' huuñ

ne falak par rah mujh ko ne zamin par rau mujhe
aise kis mahrum ka mein shor-e-be-tasir hun
jon kaman garche KHamida hun pe chhuTa aur wahin
us ke kuche ki taraf chalne ko yaro tir hun
jo mere hisse mein aawe tegh-e-jamdhar sail-o-kard
ye fuzuli hai ki main hi kushta-e-shamshir hun
khol kar diwan mera dekh qudrat muddai
garche hun main naujawan par shairon ka pir hun
yun saadat ek jamdhar mujh ko bhi guzariye
munsifi kije to main to mahz be-taqsir hun
is qadar be-nang KHabton ko nasihat shaiKH-ji
baz aao warna apne nam ko main 'mir' hun
