vo shaḳhs mujhe jaan se pyārā bhī bahut thā
ye kam hai ki kuchh din vo mire saath rahā hai
tanhā thā to yādoñ kā sahārā bhī bahut thā
tanhā.ī udāsī ye siyah-rāt ye jal-thal
aise meñ to ik TuuTā sitāra bhī bahut thā
ik maiñ ki chalā aayā koī qadr nahīñ kī
us ne to mirā naam pukārā bhī bahut thā
kuchh merī bhī kam-fahmī thī maiñ ho gayā us kā
shīshe meñ 'ḳhalīl' us ne utārā bhī bahut thā
mushkil mein mujhe us ka sahaara bhi bahut tha
wo shaKHs mujhe jaan se pyara bhi bahut tha
ye kam hai ki kuchh din wo mere sath raha hai
tanha tha to yaadon ka sahaara bhi bahut tha
tanhai udasi ye siyah-raat ye jal-thal
aise mein to ek TuTa sitara bhi bahut tha
ek main ki chala aaya koi qadr nahin ki
us ne to mera nam pukara bhi bahut tha
kuchh meri bhi kam-fahmi thi main ho gaya us ka
shishe mein 'KHalil' us ne utara bhi bahut tha
