    paañv shikasta tan zaḳhmī haiñ hāthoñ meñ paimāne chand

    jiitī dhuup sisaktī aaheñ jehd-e-musalsal zaḳhm-e-dil

    haa.e re us mazdūr hālat jis qismat daane chand

    aisā kaal na dekhā ham ne vaise dekhe kaal bahut

    maiḳhāne meñ sab pyāse lekin haiñ paimāne chand

    ham se ruuTh ke jaane vaale apnā tasavvur rahne de

    ham ne bune haiñ jīvan bhar meñ ḳhvāb ke tāne-bāne chand

    haañ ai chāragaro merī barbādī sāmān karo

    ḳhūn-e-tamannā surḳhī se saj jaa.eñ kāshāne chand

    ġham tapish ne bahte aañsū ḳhushk kiye haiñ ai 'anjum'

    girya-e-shabnam gulshan gulshan phir bhī bhareñ paimāne chand

    hum se ruTh ke jaane wale apna tasawwur rahne de

    hum ne bune hain jiwan bhar mein KHwab ke tane-bane chand

    han ai chaaragaro meri barbaadi ka saman karo

    KHun-e-tamanna ki surKHi se saj jaen kashane chand

    gham ki tapish ne bahte aansu KHushk kiye hain ai 'anjum'

    girya-e-shabnam gulshan gulshan phir bhi bharen paimane chand
