najāt ġham se nahīñ hai mumkin mafar alam se kabhī nahīñ hai
agar yahī ziist hai to is se nibāh kuchh dil-lagī nahīñ hai
ḳhudā ko jaane ḳhudā na maane vo bandagī bandagī nahīñ hai
jo dard-e-qaum-o-vatan na jaane vo shā.erī shā.erī nahīñ hai
jo ik ishāre pe miT na jaa.e vo aadmī aadmī nahīñ hai
jo dūsroñ ke na kaam aa.e vo zindagī zindagī nahīñ hai
bahār aa.ī to hai chaman meñ ḳhizāñ kā lekin mizāj le kar
fasurda gul haiñ udaas ġhunche shagufta koī kalī nahīñ hai
gunāh kyoñ ziist ho na apnī tabāh aalam na ho to kyūñ-kar
jis auj par aadmī thā pahle us auj par aadmī nahīñ hai
sabā ba-sad-ehtirām un ko salām kahnā payām kahnā
abhī se aa kar vo kyā kareñge abhī to mahfil sajī nahīñ hai
yahī hai 'hasrat' kalām merā miTā añdherā huā saverā
kahīñ bhī ab tīrgī nahīñ hai koī bhī dil ab dukhī nahīñ hai

KHuda ko jaane KHuda na mane wo bandagi bandagi nahin hai

jo dusron ke na kaam aae wo zindagi zindagi nahin hai
bahaar aai to hai chaman mein KHizan ka lekin mizaj le kar
fasurda gul hain udas ghunche shagufta koi kali nahin hai
gunah kyon zist ho na apni tabah aalam na ho to kyun-kar
jis auj par aadmi tha pahle us auj par aadmi nahin hai
saba ba-sad-ehtiram un ko salam kahna payam kahna
abhi se aa kar wo kya karenge abhi to mahfil saji nahin hai
yahi hai 'hasrat' kalam mera miTa andhera hua sawera
kahin bhi ab tirgi nahin hai koi bhi dil ab dukhi nahin hai
