nigāhoñ kī fusūñ-kārī bahut hai
ye faiz-e-ām phir jaarī bahut hai
ye chāhā thā ki tujh ko bhuul jā.ūñ
magar sūrat tirī pyārī bahut hai
ġham-e-duniyā uThā.e muskurā kar
agarche bojh ye bhārī bahut hai
mujhe vo is tarah kyoñ chhoḌ detā
nasīboñ kī siyah-kārī bahut hai
jafāoñ par jafā.eñ chāhtā huuñ
huzūr apnī vafādārī bahut hai
rulā mat aur 'aḳhtar' hāl-e-dil se
bas ab ye girya-o-zārī bahut hai
nigahon ki fusun-kari bahut hai

magar surat teri pyari bahut hai
gham-e-duniya uThae muskura kar
agarche bojh ye bhaari bahut hai

jafaon par jafaen chahta hun
huzur apni wafadari bahut hai
rula mat aur 'aKHtar' haal-e-dil se
