nok-e-qalam ko jur.at-e-iz.hār de gayā
ye kaun mere haath meñ talvār de gayā
dohrā rahī hai aaj bhī tārīḳh vāqi.āt
yā phir koī paḌhā huā aḳhbār de gayā
maiñ jaañ nisār kar ke fazīlat-ma.āb huuñ
vo sar utaar kar mujhe dastār de gayā
ye aable ye zaḳhm sab us ke hī faiz haiñ
māñge baġhair dirham-o-dīnār de gayā
