    sā’at-e-hijr kaT ga.ī 'ishq javān ho gayā

    shahr meñ 'arse baa'd phir amn-o-amān ho gayā

    jis ke baġhair ziist zehn meñ ḳhāka tak na thā

    kaise vo shaḳhs yak-ba-yak vahm-o-gumān ho gayā

    dil ke mu’āmalāt ham ko bhī thoḌī fahm hai

    kyā kaheñ dosto yahāñ jaañ ziyān ho gayā

    ham ko bhī faḳhr hai ki ham rakhte the apne sar pe chhat

    koī makāñ milā na thā dard makān ho gayā

    ek na.e safar pe ab honā hai ham ko gāmzan

    paañv bhī laḌkhaḌā uThe rasta Dhalān ho gayā

    sa’at-e-hijr kaT gai 'ishq jawan ho gaya

    shahr mein 'arse ba'd phir amn-o-aman ho gaya

    jis ke baghair zist ka zehn mein KHaka tak na tha

    kaise wo shaKHs yak-ba-yak wahm-o-guman ho gaya

    dil ke mu’amalat ki hum ko bhi thoDi fahm hai

    kya kahen dosto yahan jaan ka ziyan ho gaya

    hum ko bhi faKHr hai ki hum rakhte the apne sar pe chhat

    koi makan mila na tha dard makan ho gaya

    ek nae safar pe ab hona hai hum ko gamzan

    panw bhi laDkhaDa uThe rasta Dhalan ho gaya
