ye raushnī tire kamre meñ ḳhud nahīñ aa.ī
sham.a kā jism pighalne ke baad aa.ī hai

isī tarah se rakho band merī āñkheñ ab
ki niiñd ḳhvāb badalne ke baad aa.ī hai
Keep my eyes closed in such a way now
For sleep has come after changing my dreams
yaqīn hai ki kabhī be-asar nahīñ hogī
duā laboñ pe machalne ke baad aa.ī hai
I am convinced that it shall never go unheeded
For this prayer has come after twitching on my lips
nadī jo pyaar se bahtī hai regzāroñ meñ
ye pattharoñ meñ uchhalne ke baad aa.ī hai
The river that runs sweetly through the deserts
Has come after bounding through the boulders
thī jis bahār kī uljhan tamām muddat se
vo 'indirā' ke bahalne ke baad aa.ī hai
That spring which caused such distress for so long
Has finally arrived, now that Indira has calmed down
