یہ شام دھوپ میں چلنے کے بعد آئی ہے
After the colours of dusk have been splayed out
The evening has come after walking in the Sun
یہ روشنی ترے کمرے میں خود نہیں آئی
شمع کا جسم پگھلنے کے بعد آئی ہے
This light didn't appear in your room on its own
It has come after burning the body of the candle
اسی طرح سے رکھو بند میری آنکھیں اب
کہ نیند خواب بدلنے کے بعد آئی ہے
Keep my eyes closed in such a way now
For sleep has come after changing my dreams
یقین ہے کہ کبھی بے اثر نہیں ہوگی
دعا لبوں پہ مچلنے کے بعد آئی ہے
I am convinced that it shall never go unheeded
For this prayer has come after twitching on my lips
ندی جو پیار سے بہتی ہے ریگزاروں میں
یہ پتھروں میں اچھلنے کے بعد آئی ہے
The river that runs sweetly through the deserts
Has come after bounding through the boulders
تھی جس بہار کی الجھن تمام مدت سے
وہ اندراؔ کے بہلنے کے بعد آئی ہے
That spring which caused such distress for so long
Has finally arrived, now that Indira has calmed down
