terī dahlīz tak jo aayā thā
dil hī dil meñ to muskurāyā thā
ek ke baa'd ek chal hī diye
jism bhī ruuh sā parāyā thā
tum jahāñ bhī raho adab se raho
kuchh buzurgoñ ne ye sikhāyā thā
kaise kartā maiñ dil kī bātoñ ko
mujh pe ḳhāmoshiyoñ kā saayā thā
tū hī mujh ko batā de ai 'chetan'
kaun mere qarīb aayā thā
teri dahliz tak jo aaya tha
dil hi dil mein to muskuraya tha
ek ke ba'd ek chal hi diye
jism bhi ruh sa paraya tha
tum jahan bhi raho adab se raho
kuchh buzurgon ne ye sikhaya tha
kaise karta main dil ki baaton ko
mujh pe KHamoshiyon ka saya tha
tu hi mujh ko bata de ai 'chetan'
kaun mere qarib aaya tha
