tujhse ai ishq ye sawal raha
tujh se ai 'ishq ye savāl rahā
zindagī jiinā kyoñ muhāl rahā
tere aane kī jo huī thī ḳhushī
tere jaane kā bhī malāl rahā
saath guzrā thā jo tire lamha
'umr bhar us kā hī ḳhayāl rahā
ab maiñ kis kī misāl duuñ tujh ko
har sitam terā be-misāl rahā
'ishq meñ miT gayā huuñ maiñ 'shamshād'
ab na baaqī koī zavāl rahā
tujh se ai 'ishq ye sawal raha
zindagi jina kyon muhaal raha
tere aane ki jo hui thi KHushi
tere jaane ka bhi malal raha
sath guzra tha jo tere lamha
'umr bhar us ka hi KHayal raha
ab main kis ki misal dun tujh ko
har sitam tera be-misal raha
'ishq mein miT gaya hun main 'shamshad'
ab na baqi koi zawal raha
